London, United Kingdom - 20 September 2019 EXCLUSIVE SET - Aerial construction specialists and demolition experts use a huge crane to carefully lift intact, a twenty five ton, two-story wall, to preserve a famous Banksy rat image which has been covered up for years. Teams from specialist companies have spent over six weeks cutting around the artwork and fitting custom made eight ton steel supports to enable them to save the historic piece of art. Work has started on the construction of a new twenty seven floor art’otel hotel on the site of the old Foundry building in Shoreditch, east London, and a condition of the planning permission was to preserve the historical Banksy graffiti. A second section of the painting, an image of a TV being thrown through a broken window has already been cut out and moved separately. After the hotel construction is complete the two parts of the Banksy painting will be displayed on the hotel.
